ACME

The Acme brand was founded by Joseph Hudson, who had previously worked as a farm helper. He later moved to Birmingham, where he founded a whistle company.

Initially, his business was small, but in 1883, a request came from the London Metropolitan Police. The police wanted to take advantage of the excellent properties of the whistle for better communication between officers. During testing of one whistle, the policeman who blew the whistle could be heard 1.6 kilometers away.

Over the next 135 years, Acme developed and patented more than 40 different types of whistles.

In 2000, Acme achieved high sales. The Acme Thunderer alone sold more than 200 million units. In recent years, Acme has increased exports to 119 countries worldwide.

Today, these modern whistles like the Tornado 2000 and Cyclone are used at top sporting events worldwide. Here are just some of the sports and safety organizations that use Acme whistles: NATO, FIFA, UN, FIMBRA, FINA.
