Hanwag
The Hanwag company was founded in 1921 in Virkierchen, a small town near Munich. It was founded by Hans Wagner, who projected his own name into the brand name.
It is certainly interesting to note that Hans had two brothers and both of them opened their own shoe factories: Hochland and Lowa.
The entire history of Hanwag revolves around the Wagner family and constant progress in the development of outdoor shoe production. The modern face of the company is the work of Sepp Wagner, who led it for almost 40 years.
Hanwag produces boots for demanding high alpine terrain without any limits. Each boot combines long-standing experience in sewing quality footwear, technical expertise and constant innovations that go hand in hand with an emphasis on maximum sustainability and environmental impact.
Hanwag boots are known for their reliability, durability, long service life, and traditional design.
When developing new models and evolving existing ones, the focus is on a perfectly fitting cut, durability and the use of the highest quality materials.
All trekking and hiking shoes are still sewn in Europe. In addition to double-stitched models, all shoes are manufactured using a complex cemented technology. This significantly extends their lifespan, as they can be resoled.
Hanwag also takes a responsible approach to the environment, which is why it has become part of the Fenix Outdoor Group.
The company is based in the Bavarian Alps and its goal is to preserve them for future generations.
Therefore, Hanwg strives to use natural resources wisely, limit transportation to the necessary minimum and work with environmentally friendly materials.
